A Manger Moment Day 7

A Manger Moment

Liberty LeJeune
“The Preparation”

This time of year always goes by really fast for me. Does anyone else’s to-do list consume them? There’s decorating, gift buying and wrapping, sending Christmas cards, Christmas production practice, baking, holiday parties, getting the house ready for company, or preparing to travel—the list goes on and on.

I’ve always acknowledged the 25th being the day our Savior was born, but the way I’ve prepared for that day aligns more with the world than Heaven.

I wonder if I would have been too busy to stop and worship in the stable, had I been around during the time Jesus was born. I wonder if, I asked Joseph how he prepared for Christmas, would he tell me to stop and listen to the voice of God. Would the Wise men suggest giving Jesus our most valuable gifts. Maybe if I asked the angels, they might recommend we sing about the King. I think Mary would tell me to ponder the miracles of Heaven. If I asked Jesus what was on His list, He would probably encourage me to be the light on the hill, pointing those in darkness towards His love.

Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬
“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.”

Don’t let the busyness of the season and your to-do list stop you from slowing down enough to hit your knees and experience the miracle of Christ. Let your holiday season be more of an act of worship than boxes you have to check off.
