21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING
JAN 6-26, 2025

Why 21 days?

21 days is the standard for creating a habit.  We are wanting prayer and fasting to be as regular in your life as brushing your teeth.   Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God. Biblical fasting always has to do with eliminating distractions for a spiritual purpose; it hits the reset button of our soul and renews us from the inside out. It also enables us to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God and prepares our hearts for all the good things God desires to bring into our lives. Remember, your personal fast should present a level of challenge, but it is very important to know your body, your options, and, most importantly, to seek God in prayer and follow what the Holy Spirit leads you to do.

Our goal as a church is for each person to participate in this fast.  We never want people to feel like a failure or for them to feel as though they aren't good enough. Prayerfully consider what God would have you to do, be constant and watch how God changes you.

What is fasting?

In the times that we are living in today we have to flee every appearance of evil and cling to that which is good.  To be in line with the mission of Christ we must follow His example.  In Matthew 6, Jesus teaches us that the three fold command of every believer is to GIVE, PRAY and FAST.

The 21 days of Fasting and Prayer will be a time when we consecrate and dedicate ourselves to the purposes of God. Our church takes seriously the teachings of Christ on prayer and fasting. We believe these spiritual disciplines bring greater effectiveness in ministry (Matthew 17:14-21). In response to Christ’s exhortation, we are beginning the New Year with a period of fasting and prayer as a church body. In doing this, we are setting the spiritual tone for our church and families for all of 2025.

Fasting at its purest form is abstaining from food and feeding on spiritual food.  Spiritual food is defined as Prayer, Bible reading and worship.

Below is a list of 21 different areas that we will join in prayer together over the next 21 days.
When you pray, pray specifically for the prayer focuses of that day along with the following requests:

  1. The Passion, Power, Presence and Proclamation of Christ among us.
  2. The Mission of the Church
  • To help people come to their senses (evangelism), trust Jesus completely (discipleship) and follow Him unashamedly (missional)
  1. The Leadership of the Church
  2. Worship Ministry
  3. Children’s Ministry
  4. Youth Ministry
  5. College Ministry
  6. Senior Adult Ministry
  7. Women’s Ministry
  8. Men’s Ministry

  18. Launch team of new campus in Stapleton
  19. Opening of new Student Center and debt for that building paid off

Duration of fast

As a whole we will fast for 21 days however not necessarily everyone for the whole  days.  We just want everyone to do something within the allotted dates. For example,  1 meal, 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 21 days or 30 days.

Important note

The time you would normally spend eating or doing whatever you decide to give up, use that time to read your Bible and Pray.  Don’t leave this out, it is the most important part of fasting.  Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
