Spoiler Alert!

Spoiler Alert!

In church yesterday, Pastor Richie referenced Star Wars in his sermon. He told the condensed version of Luke and Darth Vader’s relationship. He told how Darth Vader turned to the dark side, how Luke’s mother died, even how Luke had the opportunity to kill his dad, but chose not to! As someone who has never seen Star Wars, I wanted to say SPOILER ALERT as he told the story! I laughed to myself as Star Wars has been out forever and it’s been my choice not to see it, not Pastor spoiling the most recent movie phenomenon, plus Pastor’s re-telling of the movie was much more entertaining than I would imagine the movie to be! I am thankful for a Pastor that engages the congregation through the Word and real life!

In thinking about Spoiler Alerts, I began to think about the Lord and His will for our lives. Often times we get little “spoiler alerts” here and there of where God is directing us or how He would have us handle a situation. But the question is, are we listening or are we too busy shouting SPOILER ALERT and ignoring a word that just might help us in our lives! In Jeremiah 33 when the prophet Jeremiah is receiving the word of the Lord for the people, the Lord tells him to, “Call upon Me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.” The Lord was about to give Jeremiah a big spoiler alert into the future of Israel & it was a good one! The Lord was promising restoration, healing, peace, joy, mercy, and prosperity. The present looked grim to the human eye, the Israelites thought they had been abandoned by God, but the Spiritual spoiler alert was full of greatness!

When we call upon the name of the Lord, amazing things can happen! When we listen for His reply, miracles can occur! When we receive the words He declares for us, we receive spoiler alerts for our future. The scene playing in our lives may seem grim, but when we call upon the Author and Perfecter of our Faith, His spoiler alerts can completely revolutionize the way we see the “movie” of our lives!

Call upon Him today, Listen to the spoiler alerts He wants to reveal to you! Sometimes we have not because we ask not! Maybe the Lord wants to reveal new things to you, He is simply waiting on you to call upon Him and then listen for what He will say!

Here is one of my favorite songs to worship to today and this week as we call upon His name together! I cannot wait to see His reply! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0gOKK4eoZ4
