It seems like all of my friends are on diets or lifestyle changes! They are either counting carbs, calories, or points… drinking shakes or doing exercise videos! Truly, I should probably join in as I still need to lose a few pounds myself!
In overhearing the discussion of counting carbs, I found it so interesting that name brand cream cheese has zero carbs, while generic brand has two! I have always bought generic items and thought “This is exactly the same as the name brand” but obviously there is something different enough that it changes the nutritional content of the product!
This made me think of our faith! Sometimes it can be easy to justify our worry or struggles! We tell ourselves that our walk with Jesus isnt wavering, when really the “nutritional content” of our faith is beginning to shifted. Instead of having a heart full of faith, we let worry creep in! Instead of turning to Jesus, we turn to facebook or bad habits. When our faith is infiltrated with worry, it becomes “generic” instead of the all out “name brand” faith the Lord desires for us to live in…name brand being the name of Jesus!
Isaiah 26:3 says “You will keep those in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.”
Name brand faith declares the name of Jesus, even when the situation seems dire! As the song says, “You have no rival, You have no equal!” This week remember that the generic cheese might be just fine for our tacos, but generic faith will eventually drain our souls dry, it’s just not the same as the real thing! We must have the name brand faith in the One True God who is continuously moving in our lives…working everything together for the good of those who love Him and are Called according to His purpose! (Romans8:28)
Have a great week!
