One of my favorite songs growing up was “It’s A New Season” by Israel Houghton. It was and still is one of the most catchy songs there is. I can hear it one time and it be stuck in my head for days! Today that very song is in my head, not because Ive listened to it but because Easter has come and gone and the fact that over 2000 years ago Jesus stepped out of the tomb and said, “It’s A New Season!”
Wow, I mean the day after Easter could you imagine?
After hearing the prophecies and all the promises for years and years that Jesus, the Son of God, would go to the cross, then to the grave, and in three days rise again and now it had been fulfilled right in front of their very own eyes! I could not imagine! I’m sure they couldn’t help but be excited and encouraged that their best friend, the man they had been following for years had risen from the grave and done exactly what He said He would do! All the heartbreak and tears shed quickly turned to happiness and joy! WOW if that doesn’t give you hope I don’t know would. The enemy thought they were victorious but our word assures us in Philippians 1:6 “That He who began a good work in you will carry it out to completion”
As I thought about that, the phrase “Its a new day” kept appearing in my head.
You see, everyone thought Jesus was dead. The guards thought the grave was sealed. The devil thought he had won, but it’s a new day!
The sin that once had us bound was washed away by His gracious blood! Jesus went to the cross, won the keys to death, hell, and the grave and returned victorious! The old things have gone and the new day brings new life! It’s a new day!
For the promises that you have been holding on to, maybe it has been three days or three years, don’t lose hope! God will always carry it out to completion in His timing!
Today, be encouraged that Jesus has gone before you to prepare a place for you. Be encourage that He holds each and every moment. Be encouraged that He won’t forsake you! Be encouraged that the things of yesterday are gone but new opportunities await! Be encouraged because it’s a new day!
