Today as I reflect on an event that occurred last week, I am reminded not only of Gods ability to heal, but His willingness to heal. Psalm 30:2 says “Lord my God, I called to You for help, and You healed me.” While helping a gentleman one night last week who was having tire issues, I hurt my back really bad. So much so that I couldn’t get in a comfortable position to relieve the pain and ended up not sleeping much. I had contemplated taking medication to help with the issue or even going to the ER but around 4:30am, I decided to start praying. I’ve never really experienced Gods healing touch in my own life but I’ve seen it manifested in others. I paced back and forth in my motel room asking and believing God for a healing that I knew He could provide. Later that morning my wife began to pray for me and while I was ironing my clothes, I felt the pain disappear immediately. Without a doubt, I knew that God had touched me not because He was obligated to do so but because I believed and I chose to accept His healing.
I am thankful for doctors and medications. I believe that the Lord uses them daily as a tool of healing. But let us never forget who the Great Physician is. Isaiah 53:5 says “by His wounds we ARE healed.” It doesn’t say we might be healed or that God will think about healing us, it says we “ARE” healed. All we have to do is have faith, pray, and believe it to be done. God is always willing and able to do everything we ask Him to do if we are ready to step out in faith and take it.
This week I want to encourage you to remember that God is our HEALER. Maybe there are things in your life that need to be healed, maybe you know someone else who needs healing. Whatever the case may be, walk by faith and accept what God has already given you. He paid the ultimate price for us on calvary so that we could rely on Him. Be encouraged!
